Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hansen Desert Hills Mortuary and Cemetery - Scottsdale on Sep. 10, 2024.
Wayne Louis Kadar, age 89, of San Tan Valley, Arizona, passed away on August 28, 2024, at Lund Home, Hospice of the Valley, Gilbert, Arizona, surrounded by family. Born in Bridgeport, Connecticut on September 21,1934, Wayne was the son of Zolton Kadar and Helen (Daly) Kadar.
Wayne is survived by his wife of 38 years, Karen Kadar (Czaplicki,) San Tan Valley, AZ; daughter Lorraine Kadar, Naugatuck, CT; daughter Elizabeth Kadar (John Nuciforo) Fountain Hills, AZ; six grandchildren Amanda Kadar; Danielle Melnick; Thomas Kadar, Carol Ann Gura; Jessica Loveland, and Mason Fallstrom of Tucson, AZ; eight great grandchildren; two brothers, Ronald Kadar, Fairfield, CT; and Kenneth Kadar, Temple, GA; in addition to numerous extended family members.
In 1952, Wayne enlisted with the U.S. Army, training with the 101st Airborne, Kentucky. At age 19, Wayne was the youngest candidate out of hundreds in his headquarter company to become Staff Sergeant; he served two years in Korea, earning the Commendation Ribbon with Medal Pendant for Military Merit, and was Honorably discharged in 1954. After Wayne's military career, he became a carpenter by trade, and went on to become instrumental in the architecture, development & building of countless residential homes and commercial properties in Naugatuck, Connecticut and Fountain Hills, Arizona. Wayne became a well-respected and highly sought-after builder, whose career thrived and spanned for more than 65 years, until he hung up his tool belt - with still calloused hands - at age 86. His work had a deep impact in communities across the United States, to include building Habitat for Humanity homes in Kentucky. Wayne had a passion for travel and loved to visit faraway places in Asia, Australia, Europe, North Africa, North America and South America, and he took great joy in sharing the experience of traveling the globe with his wife, daughters, family and friends.
A patron of the Arts, he was extremely fond of the Opera and frequented the MET in NYC. Wayne loved music, and had a passion for a wide range from classical to opera, country western to religious hymns, bagpipe music to Rod Stewart and Janis Joplin thrown into the mix - but for sure, Beethoven was his favorite. He was an avid reader of science, history and mysteries, and he would finish many books and novels in a short week's time. A devout Catholic, Wayne would attend mass on TV each and every Sunday, if he couldn't attend Mass at a church. Missing his work deeply every day after putting down his hammer for the last time at age 86, Wayne stayed active by volunteering his time to help others who were in the home-building process. For sure, Wayne left his indelible handprint on the hearts of many.
Wayne was preceded in death by his sister, Lorraine Wergin, brothers Kevin and Howard Hilton, his former wife, Maryann Montesi (Rockwell,) daughter Michele Kadar, and stepson, Jamie Fallstrom.
During the last several months, Wayne's strength was diminished, but who he was - and all his goodness - held strong, steady and constant. Wayne was truly blessed with a full and productive life.
Service of Remembrance will be held at 3:00 PM on Tuesday, September 24 at Hansen Desert Hills Chapel, 6500 Bell Road Scottsdale.
