Wayne Kahn Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home on Dec. 8, 2025.
Wayne Richard Kahn, 80, of Aurora, IL and formerly of Libertyville, IL and Naperville IL, passed away in Aurora on December 3, 2025. He was born on March 4, 1945, in Chicago to Milford and Hazel (nee Smith) Kahn. On June 18, 1994, he married Dalena Kemna in Downers Grove, IL.
Wayne grew up on the north side of Chicago and attended Schurz High School. He graduated from Columbia College where he majored in broadcasting. Wayne started his career in radio broadcasting, and he was thrilled to be part of a pre-game television broadcast for the Chicago Cubs. Wayne also had a long career in sales, marketing, promotions and eventually owned his own small business.
Wayne was a life-long "foodie" and was always known as the "go to" guy for restaurant suggestions. He was as happy with a great Chicago-style hot dog as he was with a fine dining establishment. Wayne was a life-long Cubs fan and enjoyed golf, skeet shooting and following local chefs. He loved animals of all kinds and volunteered at the A.D.O.P.T. Pet Shelter in his retirement. Wayne was a man of faith and was always an active church member. He especially enjoyed being in several Christian small groups. Wayne served on the Board of Directors for the Institute for Community in Romeoville, IL for many years.
Wayne is survived by his wife, Dalena Kemna-Kahn and their pets Winnie and Cubbie.
A Celebration of Life will be held in the spring of 2026 to recognize opening day for his beloved Chicago Cubs.
In lieu of flowers, memorial can be made to The Institute for Community in Romeoville, IL or A.D.O.P.T. Pet Shelter in Naperville, IL.
Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Naperville, was entrusted with arrangements.
