A Memorial Visitation for Wayne Arnold Koch, 82, of Westmont, will be held Friday, April 25, 2025, from 3:00 p.m. until the time of the Memorial Service at 7:00 p.m. at the Ahlgrim Family Funeral Home, 201 N. Northwest Highway, Palatine. The Interment will be private.
Wayne was born November 8, 1942, in Chicago, passing away peacefully on April 12, 2025, in Westmont IL.
Wayne was the loving father of Robert (Maria) Koch and Cassie (Bruce) Cavins; loving grandfather of Lexi Cavins and Ava Koch; dear son of the late Arnold and Delores Koch; fond brother of Gail Burt and the late Russ Koch. Uncle to Michael (Pam) Koch, Ryan (Kayla) Koch, Marissa Koch Babineau and Clayton Burt. He also leaves behind lifelong friend and former spouse, Paulette Koch.
Wayne was born and raised in Palatine and graduated from Palatine High School. He became a union plumber shortly after graduation; retiring after a more than 40 year career, he enjoyed reading, collecting elephant statues and various carvings. Throughout Wayne’s life, he was somewhat of a rebel and didn’t shy away from a good party. He was a car enthusiast and a gear head in his younger years. He loved classic and muscle cars, motor sports and drag racing. Wayne was honest and hard working; he was a man of integrity and conviction. His witty sarcasm and dry sense of humor were his trademark. He could always be counted on to come up with one of his classic “one liners” to light up a room. Wayne will be greatly missed by his family and all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Wayne fought courageously to the end. He battled with Leukemia, Parkinson’s Disease and Diabetes. In lieu of flowers, donations would be appreciated to the American Cancer Society.
