Wayne L. Matherly, of O’Fallon, MO, passed away Saturday, August 16, 2025, at the age of 80. Beloved husband of the late Rita Matherly; cherished son of the late Lucille and John Matherly; devoted father of Jessica (Ryan) Buckley; loving grandfather of Avery Buckley and Abby Buckley.

Wayne was a kind-hearted man with a quiet, reserved nature whose warmth and charm touched everyone who knew him. He was married to his beloved wife, Rita, for 40 years before her passing. Together, they cherished weekends at the lake surrounded by family and friends—fishing, laughing, and creating lasting memories.

Wayne had many passions in life, including golfing, traveling, and hosting Sunday barbecues. Yet nothing compared to the joy he found in being a father to his only daughter, Jessica. From the very beginning, Wayne and Jessica shared an extraordinary bond, they were a team. He was her biggest supporter, her confidant, and her steady source of strength. Their connection was truly one-of-a-kind, and the love between them will continue to live on forever.
