Wayne Anthony "Bro" Potter

Wayne Potter of Wadsworth, Ohio passed away on September 7th 2023 after a 3-year battle with Lung Cancer. His last days were spent at peace and surrounded by loved ones. Wayne was born December 20th, 1973 in Cleveland, Ohio to Wayne & Bernice Potter. He was a 1993 Graduate of Brunswick High School and ended his working career at Columbia Gas. Wayne created a beautiful family with his Wife, Sonja Halstead, whom he married twice. They said I do on 11/11/2006 and then again 11/11/2016. Together they welcomed their son Anthony Wayne Potter and Wayne became the greatest step dad to Johnny & Brittany. Wayne was loved by all and he truly enjoyed life each day. Wayne loved riding his Harley, riding 4-wheelers with the guys, entertaining anyone's kids and The Cleveland Browns. He idolized his dad and he is the reason Wayne was "Ford Tough" He was a proud member of The Masons, The Eagles, Clays Park and The Galaxy. Wayne was a traditional man who loved Sundays with his Aunt Paula's Italian cooking and his entire Italian family. Family meant everything to Wayne. If he didn't pick on you then you weren't family. Wayne is survived by his wife and caretaker Sonja, sons Anthony Potter & Johnny Halstead, daughter Brittany (Andrew) Sidol, parents Wayne and Bernice Potter, sister Cindy (Joe) Moran, his god son & nephew Kevin Moran and niece Kayla Lauro (Joe), Grandmother Gloria Palmentera, In-laws Paul & Patti Payne, Sister-in-laws Stephanie Payne and Deborah Wise. Also surviving are his companions Rosie & Lucy, who never left his side, along with several cousins, aunts and uncles. Wayne was proceeded in death by his grandparents Neal & Louise Potter, Grandfather John Palmentera, brother-in-law Chuck Payne and his first love his dog Shelby. Wayne Potter was a beautiful person inside & out. His smile was so stunning it would light up the whole room. He cared so deeply about everyone around him. The impact he made on so many lives will forever be cherished. He will forever be missed.
Friends and Family are welcome attend his Celebration of Life on Friday, Oct 13th 2023 from 12-4:30pm at The Galaxy Restaurant & Banquet Center 201 Park Centre Drive, Wadsworth, Ohio 44281 in the Starlight Banquet Room. A private service for family will be held later and officiated by family friend Tom Fisher. The family would like to thank all of the nurses at Justin T Rogers Hospice Care Center for their extra love and care for Wayne during his long battle. Thank you to everyone who supported the family and continue to be a support. To Ashley Clifford who cared for him for almost 2 years & Mary Ellen who saw him until the end, you will always have a special place in our hearts.
