Wayne Leo Rackers passed away on November 1, 2024, at the age of 65. Born on July 11, 1959, to the late Leo and Lucille (Kolb) Rackers, Wayne grew up in Wardsville and graduated from Helias High School, where he built lifelong friendships.
Wayne's military service was a point of pride as he served twenty years in the Army National Guard, including a tour of duty during Desert Storm. After leaving the service, Wayne worked for several years in the construction industry, a field that matched his work ethic and his love for hands-on projects.
Outside of work, Wayne found his greatest joys in nature. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and enjoyed spending time on the river-whether it was casting a line, out on his boat, riding his wave runners, or simply enjoying the serenity of the water. He cherished these moments not just as a hobby but as a time to connect with friends and family.
He is survived by his daughter, Megan Schulte (Chris), brothers Mike (Sherry), Gary, and Phillip, sister Rhonda Gelbach (Doug), and his beloved grandchildren, Nora and Noah. He was preceded in death by his sister-in-law, Carol.
Visitation will be held on Friday, November 15, 2024, at Houser-Millard Funeral Directors, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. A prayer service officiated by Msgr. David Cox will follow. Burial will take place at St. Stanislaus Catholic Cemetery in Wardsville, Missouri.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests expressions of sympathy be made to the St. Stanislaus Educational Foundation.
Arrangements are under the direction of HOUSER-MILLARD Funeral Directors, 2613 West Main Street, Jefferson City, Missouri 65109 (573) 636-3838. Condolences may be left online for the family at www.millardfamilychapels.com
