Wayne Edward Rowney, age 57, passed away January 9, at 9:48 pm, at Cox South Medical Center in Springfield, Missouri. Wayne was born in Du Quoin, Illinois, on October 1, 1967 to Marian (Iffert) Pollard and Clyde Rowney.
Wayne graduated high school in 1985 and had a 24-year career in the United States Coast Guard as a cook.
Wayne married the love of his life, Shelli (McInnis) Rowney, on September 3, 1989. They welcomed two sons, Vance Rowney and Shane Rowney.
Wayne was preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Gayle McInnis; sister-in-law, Candy McInnis; his Aunt Caroline Brown; his Aunt Paula Price; his Uncle Rick Iffert; his Uncle Rob Rowney; his maternal grandparents, Herbert and Rita Iffert; and his paternal grandparents, Charles Lee Rowney and Leta Rowney Green.
Wayne is survived by his wife, Shelli Rowney; his children, Vance Rowney and Shane Rowney; his parents, Marian (Gary) Pollard and Clyde (Connie) Rowney; his sister Michelle (Michael) Stokes; his sister-in-law, Leora (Warren) Weiner, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Wayne loved to cook, loved his family and loved all animals, especially his cats.
Wayne will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Quilts of Honor, Attn: Janie Mahon, 220 Honeysuckle Lane, Branson, MO 65612.
A celebration of life for Wayne will be held at a later date.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Walnut Lawn Funeral Home DeGraffenreid-Wood Crematory, in Springfield, MO.
