Wayne Satterlee, 78, of Mitchell, SD, died Wednesday, February 8, 2023, at his home in Mitchell. Funeral Services will be 10:30 AM Monday, February 13, at Bittner Funeral Chapel. Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery in Mitchell. Arrangements by Bittner Funeral Chapel.
Wayne Michael Satterlee (better known to many as "Slim") was born on June 3, 44 to Vincent and Grace (Holan) Satterlee in the homestead north of Chamberlain. He graduated from White Lake High School in the class of 1962.
He married Brenda Leanne Buchanan on June 6, 1964 in White Lake, SD. He and Brenda had 4 children – Mike (Kim) Satterlee (Peoria, AZ), Holly (Mike) Fortier (Mitchell, SD), Dave (Lisa) Satterlee (Aberdeen, SD) and Heidi Satterlee (Mitchell, SD). He had 9 grandkids, Mike & Markee (Fortier) Quinn (Sioux Falls, SD), Andy (Dykstra) & Canaan Walker (Sioux Falls, SD), Kylee Fortier & friend Mark (Mitchell, SD), Matthew Barnhouse (Mitchell, SD) and Zakary Kleinsasser (Alexandria, SD) and Haylee Huke (Peoria, AZ). He also had 2 great-grandchildren Myla and Charlie Quinn (Mike & Markee Quinn).
Wayne had many truck driving jobs throughout his life including, Mitchell Concrete, CHS, Krantz Trucking, Selland Trucking, and many others.
Wayne was all gas and no brakes! He could solve and fix just about anything (might not have been fixed right, but the things got fixed!). Wayne loved going for morning coffee at I-90 (Marlins Restaurant). He also loved anything with wheels, especially John Deere tractors. Also NASCAR
He is survived by his wife Brenda, son Mike and his wife Kim and family, daughter Holly and husband Mike and family, son Dave and his wife Lisa, daughter Heidi and family. He is also survived by his sister Peggy (Satterlee) and her husband Steve Curl (Montana), his brother Richard "Dick" Satterlee (Utah), his sister Sonja (Satterlee) and her husband Maury Crowley (Rapid City, SD), many nieces and nephews and his favorite cat, Bosco.
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, Vincent and Grace Satterlee, brother Rod Satterlee, great aunt Lilian (Holan) Seller, mother-in-law Aletha Buchanan and Boyd and Irene Wright.
