Wayne Uccellini Obituary

Wayne John Uccellini
April 29, 1945 - January 8, 2026
Wayne J. Uccellini, 80, passed away peacefully on January 8, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. Wayne was born in Norwalk, CT, on April 29, 1945, son of the late Bert and Elizabeth (Kaiser) Uccellini.
Wayne was a lifelong resident of Westport, CT and a graduate of Staples High School, class of 1964. Wayne also attended and graduated from Transylvania University (Lexington, KY) class of 1968. He served in the U.S. Army from 1968 until 1970, and was stationed at the Pentagon as an illustrator.
Wayne was the former owner and chef of Allen's Clam and Lobster House (Westport, CT) and Allen's East (Stratford, CT), which he owned and operated with his family for more than 40 years.
After transitioning from the restaurant industry, Wayne served as the kitchen manager at Osborn Hill Elementary (Fairfield, CT), where he was fondly known as "Mr. Wayne" by the students and staff. In his free time, Wayne was an avid boater and fisherman, spending time on Long Island Sound and Lake Taunton. He also spent countless hours training his beloved dogs.
Wayne is survived by his loving wife, Karen (Miller), of 57 years; with whom he raised three children, Jennifer Hios (Peter), children, Megan and Kyle of Fairfield, CT, Tollie Barrato (Christopher), children, Ashley, Sophia, and Charlotte of Fairfield, CT, Matthew W. Uccellini (Kim), children, Isla and Shea of Richmond, VA. He is survived by his sisters, Cheryl Spillane, Janis Pascarlla (Jim), sisters-in-law, Sally Uccellini (Douglas) and Hilde Uccellini (Ronald), as well as many loving cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, Ronald G. Uccellini, Douglas Uccellini, brother-in-law, Edward Spillane, and sister-in-law, Judith Uccellini.
Wayne was a beloved mentor to many young people who passed through the doors of Allen's Clam and Lobster House over the years. His greatest legacy is not only the delicious food he served, but the leadership, loyalty, and work ethic he demonstrated to his devoted family, friends, and community.
We will be holding a gathering to honor and celebrate Wayne's life at a future date. Details will be made available by the Harding Funeral Home.

Ron and Uccellini family. Remember when you lived on Stuart Ave. in Norwalk. Don't think your brother was born yet at that time. Remember when you and I
were racing bikes by the corner store, you were on the sidewalk and I was on the street and crashed head on into a car leaving Edwards. Old memories. Think I was about 6 at the time, now 86.

God Bless Wayne. I looked up to him very much in my youngest years, as the oldest of our generation---and as a successful, hard working Dad during the Allen's years, as I grew into adulthood. My thoughts are with the family in this difficult moment, but I also understand that he enjoyed a life very well lived. My memories of Wayne will always be with me...

Karen, I´ve known you and Wayne since 7th grade at Bedford Jr High. You were a great couple as kids and you certainly got a lifetime of great times together. You both set a great example of how to be a loving couple and how to navigate a great life. I am so sad for your loss and so happy I saw you both at Reunion. I am envious of the long and happy life you had together and the wonderful family you created. Peace, comfort, and love to you during your time of loss and beyond.

Allen´s Clam House was my go to place when I could get there from my life in Massachusetts. I remember Wayne in that capacity very well. Rest in Peace. Helen (Bunny) Rolfe Ham, class of 1965, Staples.
