Wayne Grier Winstead

Wayne Grier Winstead, 89, of 314 Old Salem Rd., Roxboro, died Tuesday, December 23, 2025. Born in Person County, Mr. Winstead was the son of the late John Daniel and Janette Grier Winstead. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Wynette Winstead and siblings John Daniel Winstead III and Sibyl W. Cockerham. Mr. Winstead served in the US Army and was a member of Long Memorial United Methodist Church where he sang in the choir for 50 years. He was the former owner and operator of Roxboro Lumber Company.
Mr. Winstead is survived by his wife, Judith "Judy" Longest Winstead; three children, Wayne Grier Winstead, Jr. (Cara), of Cary, Nancy Riddell (Ewen), of Danville, VA and Jennifer Mann, of Greensboro; one brother, Phillip M. Winstead (Cathy), of Cary; one sister, Becky Winstead Brann (Stump), of Roxboro; two grandchildren, Paul Buchanan (Heather) and Noah Winstead; one great-grandchild, Lillie Buchanan.
Graveside services will be held 1PM Saturday, December 27, 2025 at Concord Church of Roxboro Cemetery by the Rev. Ed Priestaf.
