Wayne A. Wise

Wayne Arthur Wise, 90, passed away on July 4, 2024, at the Morrison House in Zanesville, Ohio.
He was born on March 21, 1934, in Zanesville, Ohio, the son of Vivian James Wise and Nellie Mae Newberry Wise. Graduating Philo High School in 1952, he lived most of his life in Muskingum County.
A self-employed masonry contractor, Wayne built numerous basements, fireplaces, and brick and stone homes and buildings in southeastern Ohio. He was proud that he never had to advertise as his business grew by word of mouth. He also operated a farm near Carlwick, raising cattle and chickens. His favorite hobbies included fishing, hunting, reading westerns, and harvesting and selling black walnuts. He was a member of Ruritans, a founding member of Falls Township Volunteer Fire Department, and a member of Elks Lodge No. 114.
He is survived by his wife of fifty-eight years, Marcella Y. Wise, whom he married on August 14, 1966; two children, Rose Mary Ludt (Ken A.) and George Arthur Wise (Lisa L.); four grandchildren, Julia E. Gibbs (C. C.), Job A. Wise (Danielle), Lori A. Honnold (Kevin R. Lambrych), Kidron S. Wise; eight great-grandchildren, C. Alexander Burton (A. Rae), Evelyn K. Burton, Wesley M. Gibbs, D. Eli Wise, A. Eloise Wise, Ayla C. Wise, Maya R. Gibbs, Grayson C. Wise, and four step-grandchildren, Makinley Kovach, Eli Z. Lambrych, Trenton Wise, and Olive E. Lambrych; one great-great grandson, Milo V. Burton; two nieces, Daphne M. Wise, Cheri M. Neal (Timothy); and a nephew, Jeffery M. Wise (Christine).
Along with his parents, Wayne was preceded in death by siblings Robert L. Wise (Stella E.), Ina M. Porter (Frank W.), Clarence M. Wise (D. Irene), and niece Pamela K. Wise.
A graveside service will be held at Duncan Falls Cemetery on Monday, July 8, 2024 at 11:00 am. Gary Cooper will be officiating.
