Wendy Ober Lurvey Obituary

Published by Legacy on Dec. 30, 2024.
Wendy Diane Ober Lurvey, who was an indomitable pillar of strength, bravery, and unyielding positivity, was welcomed to her heavenly home on December 26, 2024 after the purposes for which God placed her on earth were accomplished. Born in Houston, Texas on September 25, 1973, Wendy was known for her deep love of family, her ability to delve into genealogy, her joy in cooking and baking, her enthusiasm for travel, and for the compassionate and caring spirit she shared with everyone she met.
Wendy will always be remembered by her husband, Daniel; their beloved children, Joshua, Benjamin, and Sarah; parents, Richard and Marilyn Ober; brother Richard Ober, Jr.; aunts, Patsy Converse and Pat Howard; parents-in-law, Greg and Judy Lurvey; brother-in-law, Jeff Lurvey and his wife Sue; nieces Stasya and Sadira Lurvey; and so very many dear cousins, extended family, and friends.
Wendy grew up in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and graduated from Baton Rouge High School. Wendy received dual Bachelor of Arts degrees in French and English from Louisiana State University and was a Sigma Kappa Sorority sister. Wendy went on to receive a Master of Arts degree in French from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Before her marriage to Daniel on May 8, 2004, Wendy managed the marketing support department at Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana in Baton Rouge. After their marriage, Wendy relocated to Lake Jackson, Texas where they had their first two children, and Wendy volunteered in the Junior Service League and at St. Mark Lutheran Church. Wendy and Daniel moved to League City, Texas where they had their third child, and Wendy took great pride in her children as she helped them grow and discover what makes them happy. Wendy continued to show her loving spirit at South Lake Church, leading the serving team and always providing a warm welcome to everyone.
A funeral service for Wendy will take place at Hope Lutheran Church in Friendswood, Texas on, at 11:00 am with a viewing preceding at 10:00 am. A reception will follow at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Wendy's name to headforthecure.org for which Wendy participated in a 5K event every year since 2019 or South Lake Church of League City, Texas (southlakelc.org).
Wendy will be interred at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Dickinson, Texas.
Wendy's departure from this world is deeply felt by her family and all those who knew and loved her, but we rest assured in her place in heaven with her Savior. Memories of Wendy will continue to inspire strength, resilience, and generosity in those whose lives she touched.
