Obituary for Wendy Lynn Pizzadili, Age 53
Heaven has gained another angel; Wendy Lynn Pizzadili, born February 12th, 1972, and passed away peacefully on November 17, 2025, at her home; surrounded by her sister Angela Maria Pizzadili; family; and friends after a lengthy battle with health issues. Wendy' s departure leaves a void in the hearts of all who knew her.
Early Life and Education
Wendy grew up in Felton, Delaware, with her parents Giovan Pietro
"Pete" Pizzadili and Norma Jean Pizzadili, both of whom have passed away. She graduated from Lake Forest High School in Felton, Delaware in 1990, building lifelong friendships that she deeply valued. Wendy earned a Bachelor's degree in General Studies from Wilmington University in 2003. She earned a Master's in Instruction, focusing on Teaching and Learning, from Wilmington University in 2005.
Career and Community Involvement
Wendy took pride in her professional involvement with her family at Pizzadili Delicatessen and Catering, Pizzadili Vineyard and Winery, as well as Pete's concessions at the Delaware State Fair. In the mid-1990s, Wendy worked at MBNA, where she met her lifelong friend, Susan Murray. Her professional journey flourished in the late 1990s when she joined the Delaware Solid Waste Authority.
Wendy committed herself to community service by volunteering as a Religious Education teacher for Holy Cross Roman Catholic Church in Dover, where she taught kindergarten. She also volunteered her time with the Department of Elections.
Personal Strength and Advocacy
A cancer survivor, Wendy started her own team, "Wendy' s Warriors," to raise funds for the
Cancer Society, demonstrating her resilience and commitment to making a difference in the lives of others.
Family and Loved Ones
Wendy was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Salvatore and Sabina Pizzadili; her maternal grandparents; Charles, and Christine "Peaches" Farrow; her Uncle Giovanni Antonio "Tony" Pizzadili; as well as her cherished dogs, Enzo and Vina.
She is survived by her cherished sister, Angela "Angie" Maria Pizzadili; Michelle Burgess, whom she considered a sister; Aaron Dickinson, whom she considered a brother (and his family); Aunt Patricia Ann Farrow Schumacher; Uncle Rod Schumacher; cousins Daniel James Silvertor and Eric Christopher Beal; and cousins Francis and Gloria Tribbett (and their family). She is also survived by Hector Ramirez and wife Ana Ramirez (and their family); Joe and "Mamma" Alice Corning (and their family); Thomas and Lynn Houska, who were like parents to Wendy, renaming her ("DQ3"), along with their daughters Kari Glanden Thompson ("DQ1") and Ashlyn Houska Eleazer ("DQ2").
Services and Memorial Contributions
The Burial will be private. Please consider donating to the
American Cancer Society in Delaware, in Wendy's memory instead of sending flowers.
A public viewing will take place at Torbert Funeral Chapel, 1145 East Lebanon Road,
Dover, Delaware 19901, on December 6, 2025, from 12:00 P.M. to 1:00 P.M. The funeral service will start at 1:00 P.M. The burial will be private. We invite you to join us as we celebrate her life. We hope you will be able to attend her viewing to honor her memory and legacy.
Remembrance
Wendy touched the lives of everyone she met with her warmth, generosity, and unwavering spirit. Her family, friends, and everyone lucky enough to know her will always remember her kindness and compassion. We will notice her absence, and she will stay in our thoughts.
