Wesley Lawrence Carroll, affectionately known as Wes by his friends and loved ones, passed away peacefully on May 5, 2025, in Murrieta, California, at the age of 81. Born on February 6, 1944, in Gary, Indiana, Wes was a man whose warmth and humor brought light and laughter into the lives of all who knew him.
Wes graduated from the Indiana University School of Dentistry and dedicated 38 years to his profession as a dentist. His commitment to community health and his practiced touch and demeanor earned him the respect and gratitude of his patients and colleagues. In addition to his professional pursuits, Wes served his country honorably in the US Army during the Vietnam era, a time that shaped his character and instilled in him a deep sense of duty and patriotism.
Outside of his professional life, Wes was a man of many interests. He had a passion for golfing, which he pursued with the same precision and focus that he brought to his work. He had a love for Corvettes, not only for their sleek design and speed but also for the sense of freedom and adventure they provided. Wes was also a talented cook, often found in the kitchen experimenting with new recipes and flavors, always ready to share a meal with friends and family. And as a practiced storyteller with an endless repertoire of jokes, Wes ensured that laughter was a constant presence in his company.
Those who knew Wes will remember him for his friendly demeanor and adventurous spirit. He approached life with a sense of humor and a readiness to embark on new journeys, whether it was on the green, behind the wheel, or in the midst of a lively conversation at the dinner table.
Wes leaves behind a loving family who will cherish his memory and continue to be inspired by his life. He is survived by his son, Wes Jr.; his grandchildren, Mina and Milo; his step-daughters, Shannon Ferguson and Kristin Askounis and their children; his brother, Les Carroll, and half-brother, Michael Stack; and his late-in-life partner Carole Schartoff; all of whom shared in many of his life's adventures.
Wes Carroll's legacy is one of joy, friendship, and service. He touched the lives of many with his humor and kindness, and his memory will be treasured by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. As we bid farewell to Wes, we celebrate a life well-lived, full of moments that brought smiles to our faces and warmth to our hearts.
Wes's life will be commemorated in a graveside ceremony, as per his wishes. His spirit, laughter, and love will forever live on in the stories we share and the memories we hold dear. Wes may have left this world, but his legacy will continue to influence and inspire for generations to come. Goodbye for now, dear Wes, until we meet again.
