Wesley Stevens Obituary

DYER CHAPEL-Wesley Karl Stevens, a beloved figure in the Cookeville community, passed away on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center at the age of 77. Born on July 30, 1947, in East Orange, New Jersey, Wesley lived a life filled with dedication to his family, career, and community.

He proudly served as a U.S. Navy veteran, embarking on his journey of service and leadership early in his life. Wesley graduated from Vahalla High School in Vahalla, New York, and later pursued a Bachelor of Science in Marketing at Pace University. His career saw him contribute significantly to the local economy through his work at DCS and First Tennessee Bank in Cookeville.

Wesley was deeply committed to his community, exemplified by his active involvement with the Rotary Club during his time in New Jersey. He was known not only for his professional achievements but also for his passion for engaging with others and making a positive impact.

In addition to his professional endeavors, Wesley found joy in various hobbies and interests. He was an avid golf player and a passionate supporter of football and sporting events, particularly the Tennessee Titans. His love for the outdoors and cooking brought him happiness, allowing him to connect with family and friends over shared meals and experiences. Wesley also sang with the Senior group, Happy Tones, at Cookeville First Baptist Church, where he shared his love for music and community. He was a former Deacon at Grace Presbyterian Church of Cookeville.

Wesley is survived by his devoted wife, Janice Huggins Stevens, whom he married on July 22, 1977. Together, they created a loving home for their children, Wesley and wife Kattie Stevens and Brooke Young, all of Cookeville. He was a proud grandfather to Wesley H. Stevens and Mackenzie Nash, who brought immeasurable joy and laughter to his life.

Wesley was preceded in death by his parents, Wesley Robert and Katherine Keller Stevens, and his sister, Carolyn Stevens.

He leaves behind cherished memories and a legacy of kindness that will resonate throughout his family and community.

Wesley will be honored with visitation on Saturday, March 15, 2025, from 10:00 to 11:00 AM, followed by a Celebration of Life service at 11:00 AM, both taking place at Dyer Chapel, Hooper-Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home located at 798 South Willow Avenue, Cookeville, TN.
