Wilbert “Bill” George Baer Jr., 93, of St. Charles, MO, was received into the arms of our Savior, Jesus Christ in the early hours of Tuesday, September 30, 2025, in his home and next to his loving wife, Joyce.
Bill was born on January 6, 1932, in St. Louis, MO, to Wilbert G. Baer Sr. and Frances T. (Zorko) Baer. He was baptized into Christ on February 7, 1932, at St. Agatha Church, receiving the promise of salvation. He received his first communion and was confirmed at St. Frances De Sales, and remained a faithful servant of Christ throughout his life. In 1978, he became a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, where he married his wife of 47 years, Joyce (Kathy) Lee Baer, on June 16, 1978.
Bill is survived and will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Joyce; his six sons and their families: Joseph “Joe” (Joanie) Baer, Richard “Rick” (Darlene) Baer, Michael “Mike” (Djuana) Baer, Richard “Rick” (Patty) Goslin, William “Billy” (Joan) Baer, and Michael “Mick” (Tonya) Goslin.
He was a devoted grandfather to Erica (Sean) McCarthy, Elizabeth “Libby” Baer, Samuel “Sam” Baer, Alexandria “Alex” (Daniel) Goodman, Jacob (Megan) Goslin, Ryne Baer, Ethan (Jane) Baer, Tiffany (Zach) Runk, Gabriella Baer, Claudia Baer, Abbey Goslin, William “Will” Baer, Olivia Baer, Charlotte Frances Baer, Jeremy Goslin, Salvatore “Sal” Baer, and Jules Baer; and great-grandfather to Liam McCarthy, Eden Goslin, and Edward Goodman.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Frances Baer, and his dearly loved grandson, Joseph “Joey” Baer.
Bill lived a life of service and proudly served in the United States Navy, the St. Louis Police Department, the St. Louis Fire Department, and the St. Charles Fire Protection District.
He was an avid sports fan and especially enjoyed soccer. In addition to sports, Bill loved listening to music—two of his favorites were Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin. In his later years, nothing brought him more joy than spending time with his wife, sons, daughters-in-law, grandchildren, and especially his great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church or School, or The Backstoppers, Inc.
