Wilbert Wheeler

Wilbert Wheeler, 76, of Trenton, NJ, departed this life on Friday, April 11, 2025 at Capital Health Regional Medical Center.
Born on July 9, 1948 in Trenton, New Jersey to Simpson ("S.B.") and Mayetta Wheeler, Wilbert was educated in the Trenton Public School System and earned an Associate's degree from Mercer County Community College. He was drafted and served in the United States Army 193rd Infantry Brigade Headquarters from 1968 until 1970. Wilbert became a chef while serving and loved to cook. He spent his life protecting his family and working as an Armed Security Officer for the State of New Jersey State Police, retiring in 2006.
"Pewee", as he was lovingly referred to by his family and friends, was stern and tough, but he loved a good time. He was always present and you knew he was having a good time by how loudly he demanded another drink from across the room. We could always find him hanging out with his best friends, Mr. Blackjack, Seymour, Frank, and Doug or any of his many brothers and cousins. No new friends were allowed. He did not play games and you did not want to be the one to find out the hard way. Protection and providing were his love languages. When his family needed him, he was there – always! Pewee was quiet and solid and would always tell you, in as few words as possible, the truth. It was that solid essence that his family could sit with and feel secure in that will be missed the most.
He was predeceased by his parents, Simpson B. Wheeler and Mayetta Wheeler; and brothers, Alphonso Patman, Ralph Wheeler, Brenda Wheeler (Brown), James T. Hayes, and John Wheeler.
Wilbert is survived by his daughters, Lisa Wilson (James) of Trenton, NJ and Twanda Wheeler of Levittown, PA; bonus daughter, Kimberly Roberts of Trenton, NJ; grandchildren, Eboni M. Harris, Evan G. Harris, Jermaine D. Steward, Milan S. Reaves, Shakira N. Roberts, Kirby J. James, Terrielle Paul, and Prince Jones; great-grandson, Kevin James; great granddaughter, Leighani K. Paul; life partner, Carol A. Roberts; sister, Sandra Wheeler of Burlington, NJ; brothers, Robert Wheeler (Sharon), Simpson Wheeler (Blondell), and David Wheeler (Selena) all of Trenton NJ; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
