Wilburn Thomas "Tom" Byrd Jr., 76, Springfield, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, January 21, 2026.
He was born February 22, 1949, to W. Thomas Byrd Sr. and E. Louise Isabel Byrd in St. Joseph, Missouri
Tom attended Edison Grade School and Central High School. He was Trackman of the year in 1967 and graduated with the first four year graduating class of Missouri Western State College, Class of 1971, in St. Joseph, MO.
He married Mary Lou Haynes on May 29, 1970.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Mary Groneweg.
He is survived by his spouse of 55 years; their 3 children, Amy Heard (Jeff); Danny Byrd (Savanna) and Julie Roy (Cameron); eight grandchildren: Brittany Byrd of St Louis; Ashley Bray (Corey) of Republic, MO; Brandon O'Neal (Jen) of St Louis, MO; Courtney O'Neal; Ellie DeCarlis; Izzy DeCarlis; Trey DeCarlis and Maya Byrd all of Springfield, MO area; three Great Grandchildren: Laiken Byrd; Rori O'Neal and Baker O'Neal all of St Louis, MO area and several cousins and In Laws.
Celebration of Life 2:00 to 4:00 P.M. Saturday, January 31st, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. Inurnment Memorial Park Cemetery. Online guest book and obituary at www.meierhoffer.com.
