With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Sue Dickson, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, on September 10, 2024, at the age of 74. Sue was born on February 23, 1950, and throughout her life, she embodied warmth, kindness, and a deep love for her family.
A native of Athens, TN., she had lived most of her life in McMinn County. For many years, she enjoyed working at Agency Creek Campground where she made lasting friendships and created wonderful memories.
Sue was a devoted mother who always prioritized the needs of her children, and her nurturing spirit extended to her cherished grandchildren. She found joy in life's simple moments, whether it was gathering for family dinners, cheering on her grandkids, or sharing stories that could brighten anyone's day.
She was known for her generosity, her unwavering support, and her ability to make everyone feel loved. Sue's legacy lives on through the countless lives she touched with her compassion and wisdom.
Her memory will forever be treasured by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Sue is preceded in death by her husband, JC Dickson; son, Robert "P.J." Dickson; mother and father, Dallie Jo and Alvin Lankford; and brother, Jimmy Lankford.
She is survived by her children James (Stacy) Dickson, Elizabeth Dickson, Jessica Dickson, and Priscilla Dickson; grandchildren Amanda Dickson, Madison Dickson, Tallie Dickson, Cindy Vandiver, Danny Simonds, Erik Woody, and Cassie Sheldon; many great grandchildren; her brothers Eugene Lankford, Kenneth Lankford and their spouses; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She will be greatly missed but never forgotten.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 18 at Companion Funeral Home in Cleveland, TN. The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 12:00. Service will begin at 12:00 with burial following at the Lankford Cemetery in Calhoun, TN.
