Wilfred Lee Clark was born on November 9, 1941, in Lacassine, Louisiana to the late Willie and Julia Celestine Clark. A native of Lacassine, he also resided in the Mossville and Lake Charles communities. Wilfred was a faithful member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church for over fifty years. He attended school in the Calcasieu Parish School System where he was a talented basketball player. Wilfred's passion was his horses which he owned and trained. He was a member of the American Quarter Horse and Thoroughbred Breeders Association. Wilfred was married to Bernadine Viney on June 19, 1964, and to this union three sons were born, Gregory, Dexter, and Derrick. He worked as a laborer in the Lake Charles chemical plants for several companies. He was living in Lake Charles, Louisiana where he departed this life on Friday, September 20, 2024, at Rosewood Rehabilitation Center. Wilfred leaves to cherish his memories, three sons, Gregory L. (Linda) Clark of Chesterfield, VA., Dexter L. (Karl) Clark of Washington, DC, and Derrick L. (Tersia) Clark of Lake Charles, LA.; one sister, Marie DeClouet of Lake Charles, LA.; one brother, Henry Clark of California; two sisters-in-law, Mary Clark Collins of Houston, TX. and Oneida Clark of California; nine grandchildren, Stephan Clark Jr., Joshua D. Clark, Adrienne Clark, Tyree Clark, Devin Clark, Jalen Clark, David Dummars, Cheka Dummars, and Trinity Dummars; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by one son, Stephan "Pon" Clark Sr.; granddaughter, Tiffany Clark; and siblings, Ella Moore, Stanley Clark, Rose Clark, Elliott Clark, Louise Clark, Joseph "JD" Clark, Horace Guillory Clark, and Johnny Clark. His visitation will be Saturday, September 28, 2024, from 9:00a.m.with his funeral following at 12:00noon, at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church located at 2333 See Street in Lake Charles. Pastor Kieran Coleman will officiate. Burial will be in Combre Memorial Park under the direction of James Funeral Home.
