Wilhelmina "Ida" Nelson

Ida was born on November 4th, 1932 and passed away on
April 5th, 2025 at the age of 92Wilhelmina "Ida" Shannon Nelson, a dedicated and compassionate woman, passed away on April 5, 2025. Born in Philadelphia, PA, on November 4, 1932, Ida spent a lifetime touching the hearts of those around her with her thoughtful and loving nature. Her life was marked by an unwavering commitment to her family and faith, which served as the cornerstone of her existence. As a devoted spouse, she cherished her family, and her legacy continues through them.
Ida worked many jobs throughout her life, but her dedication to her work was only surpassed by her devotion to her faith. Ida was a regular at Bethany Baptist Church, where she found solace and peace in reading her Bible. Her compassionate nature led her to spend her free time visiting the shut-ins in her community, bringing them comfort, companionship and little treats. This dedication to service and her unwavering belief in the power of kindness made Ida a beacon of hope and love for all who knew her. Anyone who knew Ida, has heard her say "I never met a cookie I didn't like."
Ida is survived by her son, Alfred Nelson; daughter, Sharon Nelson Siegel (Harvey); and grandchildren, Matthew Nelson, Brian Nelson, Courtney Siegel, Mackenzie Siegel (Graham Carlson), Luke Siegel (Johanna), and Lake Siegel Bell. Loving Great Grandmother of Macklin, Maverick, Louise, Hart, Nova and Osgood. She is preceded in death by her beloved spouse, Alfred Nelson, daughter-in-law Lynn Nelson, parents, David and Mary Gordon. Ida's love and wisdom will be missed but never forgotten as her family and all who knew her keep her memory alive.
Relatives and friends may greet Ida's family for a Viewing on Thursday, May 1, 2025, from 10:30 am to 11:00 am at Philadelphia Protestant Home, 6401 Martins Mill Road, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, 19111. Her Memorial Service will follow at 11:00 am.
In Lieu of flowers memorial donations in Ida's name to the Philadelphia Protestant Home Benevolent Fund, Attn: Development Office, 6401 Martins Mill Road, Philadelphia, PA 19111 would be appreciated.
