David J. Clarke, born on September 15, 1938, in Philadelphia, PA, was a man defined by his courage, generosity, and mischievous sense of humor. Known for his infectious laughter and his warm, loving spirit, David brought a sense of joy and comfort to those fortunate enough to know him. He was a stalwart pillar in both his family and community, always putting others before himself. His love for his family was unrivaled, and his service to his church as a Deacon, Elder, and Choir Director at Rhawnhurst Presbyterian Church was a testament to his deep faith and dedication.
David's professional life was marked by his work ethic and leadership, serving as a Vice President in the banking sector. Despite his demanding career, he found time to indulge in his passions. A lifelong Philadelphia sports fan, David fervently supported the Eagles, Sixers, Flyers, and Phillies. He also coached and played baseball, basketball, and football, instilling his love for sports in others. David's zest for life was further reflected in his love for traveling, music, and dancing. He was also an avid poker player, always ready for a friendly game with friends and family. David's courageous spirit was notably displayed during his service as a US Army Vietnam Veteran.
David leaves behind his son, David Clarke; his grandchildren, D.J. Clarke, Megan Clarke, and Katherine Clarke; and his brother, Wayne Clarke. His generous and loving spirit will be missed by all who knew him. David is preceded in death by his parents, David and Fanny Clarke; his wife, Virginia Clarke; and his son, A. Scott Clarke.
Visitation will be held at Lambie Funeral Home, 8000 Rowland Avenue, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on Friday, October 17, 2025, at 10:00 am EDT, followed by a service at 11:00 am EDT. We invite those who knew and loved David to join us in celebrating his remarkable life.
