Willard Monroe (Bud) Coffman was born on August 21, 1926 in Bourbon, Missouri. Bud was born to Edgar Dillan Coffman and Grace Mae (Miller) Coffman and was the oldest of twelve children. Bud passed away on Thursday, May 16, 2024 at the age of 97 at his home in Rolla.
On January 7, 1966, he was united in marriage to Naoma Ruth (Wieman) Morton in Vichy, Missouri with her parents as witnesses. He immediately became the father to Naoma's small children, Roger and Linda. Bud never referred to them as his "step-children". They were always his kids and he was their Dad.
After high school, Bud joined the United States Army and proudly served in World War II.
Bud worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company for over 42 years. He was a loyal, hardworking and dedicated employee. Bud loved watching sports, especially the St. Louis Cardinals, Kansas City Chiefs, and college basketball. He could fix just about anything. Bud was active at Vichy Community Church until his health no longer permitted him to attend. He was a Board Member for 40 years and also served as an usher and Sunday School Teacher. He also served on the Phelps County Fair Board for many years.
Those who survive and mourn his passing are his daughter Denise Vogeler and husband Matthew of Rolla, son Roger Morton and wife Deborah of Rolla, and daughter Linda Davis, and daughter Karen Paul. Bud is also survived by granddaughter Dawn Davis, grandsons Chris Voss (Sarah), Todd Morton, Nathan Morton, and Shaye Davis, and great grandsons, Tristan Morton, Bradley Taylor, Chris Voss Jr, and Colton Voss. He is also survived by seven brothers and sisters; Charles Coffman, Marvin Coffman, Catherine Wagner, Margaret Risenhoover, Wanda Starbeck, Donna Wissman and Louise Heck; numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
In addition to his parents, Bud was preceded in death by his loving wife Naoma, father-in-law and mother-in-law, John and Anna Wieman, son-in-law Bradley Davis, brothers Harold and Donald, and sisters Geraldine and Terry. Bud was also preceded in death by his best friend, Jim Jurgensmeyer.
Visitation will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Monday, May 20, 2024 at Null and Son Funeral Home in Rolla with the funeral following at noon. Pastors Gary Lane and Larry Davis will officiate. Interment will be at the High Gate Baptist Cemetery with Chris Voss, Chris Voss, Jr., Todd Morton, Nathan Morton, Tristan Morton, and Jerry Jurgensmeyer serving as pallbearers.
Memorials are suggested and greatly appreciated to the Phelps County Animal Shelter.
