William Ray Agnew

William Ray Agnew, age 89, of Allen, Texas, passed away peacefully Sunday, May 18, 2025. Born January 14, 1936, in Dothan, William was the son of the late William Lester and Zilla Ruth Adams Agnew.
William proudly served his country in the United States Army from January 17, 1955, to December 26, 1956, where he was a Sherman tank driver in Germany.
Though he had only completed one year of high school, he lived a full and meaningful life defined by hard work, strong values, and a deep love for family. He believed a handshake was a contract, and a person's word was their bond. He retired at the age of 65, after a lifetime of labor that began with a paper route and ended with serving residential and commercial customers for over 35 years as the owner of Agnew Electric in Cisco. He was a dedicated member of the Masonic Lodge and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW). Growing up in tough times taught him resilience, and he often encouraged others to "pay attention and work hard."
William had many hobbies that brought him joy-he loved to dance, sing, fish, and hunt. A man of quiet faith, William believed in God and in the salvation offered through Jesus Christ. He often said the most rewarding part of parenthood was seeing his children become upstanding Christians and raise their own families with the same values. He will be remembered for his strength, his stories, and his unwavering love for his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Leonard Charles Agnew, Granville Wayne Agnew, and Benny Lee Agnew; sisters Margie Marie Agnew Green and Martha Sue Agnew Day; and his beloved son Kerry Lane Agnew.
William is survived by his children, Mitchell Agnew and wife Sharla of Allen, Debbie Logan and husband James of Post Oak, Wade Agnew of Scranton, and Les Agnew and wife Pam of Longview. He is also survived by grandchildren Amanda Agnew Simanek of Van Alstyne, Mark Agnew of Dallas, Matt Prescott of Abilene, Justin Prescott of Gunter, Keri Johnson of Cisco, Jacob Agnew of Flint and Kathleen Canada of Baird. He leaves behind 14 cherished great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Friday, May 23rd, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Kimbrough Jacobs Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Saturday, May 24th, at 10:00 AM in the Kimbrough-Jacobs Funeral Home Chapel, with Terrell Jackson officiating. Burial with Masonic rights and military honors will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Cisco.
Pallbearers will be Mark Agnew, Paul Simanek, Matt Prescott, Justin Prescott, Rex Fields, and Rick Watts.
