Loving Husband, Father, Brother, Grandpa, Uncle and Friend, William Edward Anderson passed away and ascended through the veil peacefully on December 4, 2022, at 2:35 p.m.
"Bill" as he is also known as, was born on March 13, 1928, to Milton Olney Anderson and Peninnah Rae Wrathall Anderson in Los Angeles, California. Bill enjoyed his childhood helping his parents on their family ranch with his brother, James L. Anderson and sister, Peninnah "Lolly". He loved steam engine trains and building model trains. He had a tremendous amount of love for animals and would often bring home strays. He enjoyed playing with their family dogs, cats, and horses.
Bill enlisted into the Navy upon graduation from high school in February 1946 with the study of Electronics as his goal. He received an honorable discharge in December 1947. Electronics became so interesting to him that he decided that it would be his vocation upon leaving the Navy. After his discharge from the Navy, Bill would serve his mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Buenos Aires, Argentina in the Argentine mission. Following his mission, he attended Brigham Young University where he met his wife, Kathryn Jensen Cooley, and graduated with a degree in Engineering. Bill also attended Stanford University for graduate school. Bill and Kathryn got married on September 25, 1959, in Los Angeles, CA. In April 1961, their daughter, Michelle Cooley Anderson, would join their family. Bill spent his career working as Quality Assurance/Consultant in Electrical Engineering.
Bill was always learning and doing something to keep his mind sharp. He enjoyed building/using his hands, going on train rides, family history, singing in the ward choir, serving and helping others, and supporting his daughter, son-in-law, and granddaughters in their daily lives.
Bill was passionate about reaching out and touching the lives of lost souls. Many who were not blood related called him dad, brother, or friend. He made everyone feel comfortable, loved, and welcomed in his presence. Bill was truly a servant of God who let His light shine through him.
Bill is survived by his daughter, Michelle (Allen) Wyly; granddaughter, Melinda (Seth) Madsen; granddaughter, Allison Wyly; granddaughter, Krista Wyly; great grandsons, Noah and Andrew Madsen; and great-granddog, Oakley. He is also survived by his brother, James L. (Paula) Anderson. Bill is preceded in death by his parents Milton and Peninnah Anderson; wife of 54 years, Kathryn Cooley Anderson; and sister, Peninnah "Lolly" (Terry) McGiveran.
Family and friends are invited to a graveside ceremony of William Anderson's life to be held Saturday, December 17, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. at Rose Hills Memorial Park located at 3888 Workman Mill Rd., Whittier, CA 90601.
