William Harold Arter, Jr.

William Harold Arter Jr., 64, of Uhrichsville, Ohio, passed away at his home on Monday, September 22, 2025, after a lengthy illness. Born August 21, 1961 in Dennison, Ohio, he was a son of the late William Harold and Theda Irene (Guthrie) Arter.

After his 1979 graduation from Claymont High School, Bill proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. He returned home to a long career as a forklift operator at Wayne Auto Salvage yard, continuing until his health caused an early retirement in 2020. He was a member of the American Italian Club in Dennison and had been a longtime member of the Hey Jack Sportsman’s Club in Uhrichsville. Bill was an avid outdoorsman who especially enjoyed fishing. He loved cheering on all of the Cleveland sports teams, as well.

Bill is survived by his beloved wife, Rhonda K. (Triplett) Arter, with whom he had spent 42 happy years, including 30 years as man and wife, having been married on February 14, 1995. He is also survived by their children, Angela (Richard) Cortes, Tom (Kirstie) Armstrong, Jr., and Justus (companion, Ashlyn Rauch) Armstrong – a grandson whom he brought up like his own son; grandchildren, Alexis and Devin Cortes, Trinity and Trevor Armstrong, and Myia Orr; great-grandchildren, Oakleigh and Remington Armstrong; sister, Carol (Richard Jr.) Roth; brother, Adrian Arter; nephews and niece, Zack, Travis and Ryder (Emma) Triplett, Tonya Weimer, and Richard Roth III; mother-in-law, Barb Cargnel; father-in-law, Ronald (Karen) Triplett; sisters- and brothers-in-law, Chris and Alicia Triplett, Jessica and Jason Bergquist, and Michelle Stine; and many dear friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister and brother-in-law, Judy and Smoke Affolter; niece, Tammy Roth; and brother-in-law, Kirk Triplett.

Bill’s whole world revolved around his kids and grandkids whom he loved so dearly. He truly treasured the many happy hours they spent at Twin Hills Campground where they enjoyed camping and spending evenings playing euchre together.

Bill’s family will receive callers from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 25, at the R. K. Lindsey Funeral Home. A celebration of his life will be held on a future date.
