William Thomas Barnes, (Bill) 85, of Port Orange, FL, peacefully passed away on March 15, 2025, surrounded by his loving family at home. Born on August 1, 1939, he was the beloved son of Lewis Barnes and Dorothy Brockwell who predeceased him. Bill's first wife, Jean also predeceased him.
Bill was born in Hickman, Fulton County, Kentucky. After graduation from Fulton County High School, he joined the United States Air Force where he served our beautiful country for 22 years. After he retired from the Air Force, Bill moved to Tallahassee, FL where he graduated from Florida State University with a double major in Accounting and Finance. He then moved to the Washington, D.C. Metropolitan area where he worked for the Coast Guard, U.S. Treasury, and NOAA. In 1999, he retired to Port Orange, Florida.
Bill is survived by his loving wife, Sadie, children Karen (Pete), Debbie (Dale), and Bill (Cindy), eight grandchildren, Samantha, Kelly, Billy, Jenny, Chris, Katie, Stephanie, and Daniel, fifteen great grandchildren, Kendall, Kinsleigh, Khloe, Kaylee, Bentley, Kennedy, Nyla, Eden, Alice, Kyralyn, Thomas, Jackson, Millie, Georgia, and Gannon, and 1 great-great grandson, Carson. He is also survived by his brother Butch (Ann) Barnes.
Bill was a family man and enjoyed spending time with his family. He loved the many trips to Disney. "Disney is the happiest place on earth" he would say. Bill also had a passion for golf. To know him was to love him and he will be greatly missed.
A memorial service will be held on April 11th at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery.
