William "Charlie" Bentke, 92, of Brenham passed on to his heavenly home on October 1, 2025 at his home surrounded by his loved ones.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, October 4, 2025 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Zionsville, followed by a funeral service starting at 11:00 a.m., burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Charlie was born on March 5, 1933 in Independence, TX to Emil and Ella Koehne Bentke . He was baptized on March 26, 1933 and confirmed on October 2, 1948. On November 7, 1964 he married Sandra Ann Winkelmann, and they were blessed with two children, Ronald and Brian. He was employed by the City of Brenham Parks Department.
Those left to cherish his memory are sons and daughters-in-law, Ronald and Jeri Lynn Bentke, Brian and Robyn Bentke; brother, Tom Bentke and sister, Florence Bentke. Grandchildren, Lisa and Kurt Jasinski, Kyle and Michelle Bentke, Ashley and Wesley Fehrle and Dylan Bentke and great-grandchild, Dawson Jasinski. Also, brothers-in-law, Gary Winkelmann and Melvin "Bubba" Winkelmann, Jr and sister-in-law, Linda Bentke.
Preceding him in death are his parents, his wife, Sandra Bentke; brother, Floyd Bentke; sister, Ella Mae Ruemke; sister-in-law, Patricia Winklemann and Myrtle Bentke. Father-in-law and mother-in-law, Melvin and Lorine Winkelmann.
Pallbearers will be Charles Duch, Billy Ruemke, Troy Bentke, Tim Bentke, Casey Redman, Jody Kapchinski and Luke Reimer. Honorary Pallbearers will be the employees of the City of Brenham Parks Department.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Vanessa Harris, Stanford Moore and Stephanie Moore. Accent Care Hospice Nurses Joe, Gabriel and John and Hospice Brazos Valley Nurse, Chantel Torres.
Those wishing to honor Charlie with a memorial can do so to Hospice Brazos Valley or Zionsville Lutheran Church.
