Mr. William “Bill” Ernest Phillips, ag 65 of Lake City, passed away on Friday, October 31, 2025. Born in Jacksonville to the late Wendell E. and Imogene Long Phillips, Bill was a graduate of Sandalwood High School. Upon graduation, he enlisted in the US Air Force and was proud to have served his country. Mr. Phillips was employed by Western Global Airlines, formerly Southern Air, for twenty-five years. He was known to be a dedicated leader, mentor, and source of inspiration for many of his co-workers. He loved people and never met a stranger, had a quirky sense of humor and was a loyal friend. Mr. Phillips enjoyed going fishing and loved participating with Hooked on Heroes, the non-profit organization that provides fishing trips for veterans. He was an avid sports fan who especially loved watching NASCAR. The biggest joy of his life was spending time with his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of thirty-nine years: Althea Kay Phillips; sons: William Eric Phillips (Chrissie Lindsey) of Lake City, Jason Phillips of Steinhatchee, Anthony W. (Bethanee) Phillips of Panama City, and Danny Wayne (Dave Battle) Herring of Gainesville; daughter: Dr. Tiffany Renee (Andy) Phillips of Melbourne, Australia; brothers: Thomas Phillips and Robert Phillips, both of Jacksonville; sisters: Cheryl (Michael) Fisette, Linda Jones, and Wendy (Richard) Smith, all of Jacksonville; nine grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and numerous other family members. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Jeffery Phillips. Guerry-Forbes Funeral Home, 2569 SW Main Blvd, Lake City is honored to serve the Phillips family.
