William Christopher Black, known to friends and family as Chris, was born on May 25, 1964, in York County, South Carolina. He passed away on January 9, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love for fishing, cooking, and spending time in the great outdoors, whether at the mountains or the beach. He enjoyed attending church when he could and had great solace in his faith. Chris had a warm spirit and a generous heart, always ready to lend a helping hand to friends and family.
Chris worked as a mechanic at Walmart and was known for his strong work ethic and dedication. His love for family shone brightly, and he enjoyed many gatherings filled with laughter and good food.
Left to cherish Chris's memories are his daughter, Elizabeth Black; step daughters, Emily Gentle and Brittany Gentle; sister, Amanda "Mandy" Caulder; brother, Eddie Black; grandchildren, Hunter, Anna, Noah, Aayden, Caleb, Brayleigh, Camden, Creed, River, and Rayden; nieces, Kristin LeCroy, Lindsey Caulder, and Madison LeCroy; special friend, Karen Martin.
Chris was preceded in death by his parents, William and Mary Jane Black; daughter, Heather Brown; brother in law, Belton Caulder.
A memorial service to celebrate Chris's life will be held on Saturday, January 31, 2026, at 11:00 AM, at the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service. Friends and loved ones are invited to join together to honor his memory and share stories.
Chris's love for life and those around him will not be forgotten. He leaves behind a wonderful community that will always remember him fondly.
