William "Willie" D. Bluntzer, a dedicated husband, father, and community member, passed away on February 24, 2026, in Alice, Texas. Born on July 27, 1964, in Corpus Christi, Texas, to parents Carl Frances Bluntzer and Gertrude Dodson Bluntzer, Willie left behind a legacy rich with love, stories, and service to others.

Willie graduated from Banquete High School in 1982, and attended trade school from 1983 to 1985, becoming a Certified Welder. He went on to marry the love of his life, Audrey June Bluntzer, on November 20, 1999, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Corpus Christi, Texas.

Over the years, Willie embraced a multitude of career experiences that showcased his varied skills and dedication. His professional journey included roles as a welder, sand blaster, painter, rancher, farmer, custom hay baler, contract trucker, and he proudly served as a volunteer fireman and Emergency Medical Technician. His commitment to helping others was evident throughout his career, which he concluded in 2018.

Among the many stories Willie shared, one memorable experience occurred while working out in the gulf as a sand blaster on an oil rig during a tropical storm. Not being able to evacuate, he recounted the excitement and danger of the storm as he and 30 other men were stuck in the employee breakroom. Together, they watched the same movies on repeat on their VCR while waiting for the storm to pass. The tumultuous waves and howling winds made a lasting impression on Willie, marking the end of his sandblasting career.

From picking cotton to baling hay, Willie's passion for ranching remained a constant throughout his life. He especially cherished his time spent working with cattle. One of his most memorable moments involved an encounter with an upset mama cow who pinned him to the ground while he was transporting cattle to the sell barn in Aransas Pass. As a nervous Audrey looked on, pregnant at the time with her twin boys, a family friend Kelo hopped into the pen to distract the cow, allowing Willie to make a quick escape. Unfortunately for Kelo, he was bucked by the ornery mama cow and landed in the feed trough. Willie and Kelo laughed about it afterwards. Willie always looked for an opportunity to tell this story. This was a testament to his ability to find the humor and bright side of life in the face of danger. That was a quality he carried with him the rest of his life.

Willie found immense joy in the outdoors, whether hunting, enjoying the company of animals, or simply watching nature unfold around him. His love for horses spanned many years, with his beloved mare, Chula, holding a special place in his heart. Apart from horses, Willie also loved dogs and adored his two furry companions, Blu and Astro. Beyond his outdoor interests, Willie was known for his selflessness, laughter, and skilled storytelling, always ready to uplift those around him with humor and wisdom. As a proud supporter of the Dallas Cowboys, Houston Astros, and Texas high school football and baseball, Willie was well-versed in the history of local and state athletics. He took pride in educating others about family history and community narratives, showcasing a remarkable memory for some of his other passions which included music, movies, and television culture. Above all, Willie was a devoted family man. He was a dedicated husband and father who would do anything to see his family succeed in life.

Willie was an active member of his community and proudly took part in several organizations including the Nueces County Emergency Services District #4 and Future Farmers of America. He was also a volunteer baseball coach for the Cotton Belt Little League, and he was a member of PigskinPrep.com, where he would track high school football stats from all over Texas. Willie was a faithful member of Messiah Lutheran Church, where he and his wife's family were among the first members responsible for founding the church. Willie's contributions to the community of Bluntzer as a volunteer fireman and EMT were greatly valued, as he played a significant role in saving many lives throughout his career, including close friends in the community. His sacrifice and dedication to service remained unwavering and represented a lifelong commitment to his community.

Willie is reunited with his parents, Carl Frances and Gertrude Dodson Bluntzer; maternal grandparents, Kilmer and Celestia Dodson; paternal grandparents, William D. and Catherine Bluntzer; faithful Miniature Pinscher, Nicky; and beloved Boxer, Missie. He leaves his legacy to his beloved wife of 26 years, Audrey June Bluntzer; their cherished children, Tanner Bluntzer (Carissa Palacios), Kilmer Bluntzer, and Parker Bluntzer; siblings, Carl (Edie) Bluntzer Jr., Celestia “Antie” Bluntzer, and Lloyd (Diana) Bluntzer; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He also leaves behind his adored Blue Heeler, Blu and his loyal Boxer, Astro.

Visitation will be held at 9 AM on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, at Messiah Lutheran Church in Corpus Christi, Texas. A Funeral Service will begin at 10 AM that same morning at Messiah Lutheran Church. Interment will follow at Wade Cemetery in Orange Grove, Texas.

Those with the honor of being a pallbearer are as follows, Hunter Bluntzer, Nicholas Bluntzer, Tracy Breland, Loren Fine, Rudy Harris, Jack Reynolds, Cody Wilson, and Cole Wilson. Honorary pallbearers will be Dustin Appleby, R.J. Appleby, Neal Lawley, Kelo Paredez, Dennis Roberts, James Roberts, Butch Utley, Colin Utley, and Dickie Wright.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to Winsteads' Funeral Home, Messiah Lutheran Church, and all of the family and friends who were part of Willie’s life.

Willie's spirit and love will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His dedication to his family, friends, and community will live on in the hearts of those he touched.
