William C Boggier, 63, of Essex Fells, NJ, passed away at home surrounded by his devoted family on July 8, 2024 after a short, but valiant battle with Lymphoma.
Relatives and friends are invited for visitation on Friday, July 12, 2024 from 4-8 pm in the Shook-Farmer Funeral Home, 45 Roseland Avenue, Roseland, NJ 07068, shookfarmer.com. A Funeral Ceremony will take place on Saturday, July 13, 2024 at 10 am at St. Peter's Church, Essex Fells, NJ. Cremation will be private.
Born in Newark, he grew up in North Caldwell and settled in Essex Fells with his wife in 2001. William served the City of Orange Township as a decorated police officer, rising to and retiring as Captain. His lifelong passion was motorcycles, and he served as Commander of his Police Motorcycle Unit, Special Operations and Technical Services. William was also a Certified Maryland State Police Motor Officer Instructor, Certified Police Academy Instructor, and Certified NJ Police Firearms Instructor. He shared his love for riding with his students as a Rider Education of NJ Coach for 19 years.
William suffered a Severe Traumatic Brain Injury as well as a multitude of devastating injuries in a Police Motorcycle accident in 2019. Told it was unlikely he would ride again, William fought back and was back on his bike two years later and enjoyed riding until his cancer diagnosis six months ago.
William is pre-deceased by his father, William W. Boggier.
Surviving is his beloved wife of 23 years, Dr. Elizabeth K. Boggier (nee Grau); devoted daughters Abigail Boggier and Zoe Boggier; mother Lynn M. Boggier; siblings Tracy Boggier, Diane Erosa, and Henry Griffin. Also surviving are many extended relatives and dear friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Brain Injury Alliance of NJ.

I met Bill as an EVOC instructor at Essex County Police Academy. We fulfilled that role together for over 10 years. It was very rewarding for me because Bill was an excellent teacher and was always looking to help other officers. He was a true gentleman as well. May he rest in peace.
