William “Bill” Boyd

March 13, 1958 – July 11, 2025

William “Bill” Boyd, a lifelong resident of Akron, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Friday night July 11, 2025, surrounded by loved ones. He was 67 years old. He was born on March 13, 1958, in Indianapolis, Indiana. However, Bill remained deeply rooted in the city he loved, Akron, Ohio. He was a proud graduate of Buchtel High School, where he laid the foundation for a life marked by service, hard work, and meaningful relationships. Bill honorably served his country in the United States Army as a 76Y General Supply Specialist. His time in the military instilled in him a strong sense of duty and discipline that he carried throughout his life. Following his service, Bill built a career with the Akron Beacon Journal, where he worked for over a decade. He was known for his dedication, reliability, and the respect he earned from colleagues and friends alike. For the past 24 years, Bill shared a beautiful life with his beloved wife, Juanita Boyd. Their bond was one of love, laughter, and unwavering support.

Bill had a deep passion for technology and was an early enthusiast of computers and photography. He enjoyed capturing life through his lens, engaging in lively debates, watching movies, cooking, and above all, having good meaningful conversations, especially about his love of the Bible and of the word of God. He cherished spending time with family and friends, always bringing wisdom, warmth, and humor into every room he entered. A devoted man of faith, Bill loved the Lord Jesus and lived as a faithful servant of God. His faith was the cornerstone of his life, guiding his actions and interactions with all who knew him.

Bill was a loving father to his daughter Sheri and a proud grandfather to two grandsons Sonny and Mister, who were the light of his life. He deeply enjoyed spending time with them, making memories, sharing stories, and passing along his wisdom. Beyond his immediate family, Bill was an amazing father-in-law, grandfather-in-law, and great-grandfather-in-law to an abundance of people who came to know and love him. His kindness, sense of humor, and open heart made him a cherished part of many lives. A devoted man of faith, Bill loved the Lord Jesus and lived as a faithful servant of God.

He is preceded in death by his mother Bettye Jean (Boyd) Gary; his grandparents Willie Boyd and Lillie Mae Beamon; his siblings Gerald Hoisten and Gwendolyn Hoisten: his niece and nephew Christina Boyd and Darius Hoisten; and his uncle Benjamin Allen Sr.

He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife Juanita (Mosley) Boyd; his only daughter Laniece "Sheri" Boyd; grand children Darnell "Sonny" Haynes Jr, and D’Antwan "Mister" Boyd-Byrd; siblings Ron (Joann) Boyd, Don (Thelma) Boyd, Gerry Hoisten, Torri Bell, and Carla (Jey) Niederheiser; 13 nieces and nephews; 13 great nieces and nephews; and children, Amelia "Mia" Mosley, James Mosley, Katrina Mosley and Randolph Mosley; grand children and great grand children through his 24 year marriage.

Bill Boyd will be remembered for his kind heart, thoughtful spirit, and unwavering love for those around him. He leaves behind a legacy of integrity, faith, and compassion that will continue to inspire all who knew him.

He will be deeply missed. There are no formal services scheduled.
