William Bill 'Junnie' Burton, Jr. Obituary W. Bill 'Junnie' Burton, Jr. age 67, resident of Shelby, passed away peacefully at his home Saturday morning, April 5, 2025 surrounded by his family.
Born May 16, 1957 in Mansfield to William H. and Jerline (Howard) Burton Sr. he had been an area resident for the majority of his life. Bill was employed with Sensmier Oil for over 12 years before his retirement in 2020. Having a hard time sitting still, Bill began working part time at the Family Dollar in Shelby. He had helped with stocking shelves for the past two years.
For many years, he would DJ karaoke at local venues. This came easy to Bill, since he was known to be the life of the party and the center of attention. A member of his own social club, especially at the Clearfork Campground, he always looked forward to being with friends sitting around the campfire sharing stories. He had a fantastic sense of humor and was always ready with a joke. Whether it was good or bad, Bill loved making people laugh, and it always came very easy to him. He also enjoyed turkey shoots with his life long best friend, Grover Gregory, boating on his pontoon, and watching NASCAR races.
More than anything, Bill loved his family. They were the center of his world, and he absolutely adored his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife Mary (Workman) Burton, whom he wed February 15, 2020; two daughters, Amy Lynn Burton and Lisa Burton both of Shelby; one step-son Brian C. (Tiffany Eden) Webb of Kentucky; four grandchildren, Cheyenne Burton, Kheira 'Papaw's Princess', Tiffaney Webb, Brian Webb, Jr.; one great grandson Owen William Mason; two siblings, Christine (Timothy) Lee of Crestline, Ronald (Debra) Burton of Shiloh; five brothers-in-law, Walter, Chris (Vickie), Harvey Workman, Donald and Clyde Marvin all of Danville; three sisters-in-law, Amanda (Greg) Clark of Shelby, Becky Eggars and Sherry Edwards both of Knox County; the 'Queen of the house' his dog Pebbles; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many many close friends who will miss him deeply.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Rhonda J. Reese and two brothers Albert L. Burton Sr. and Jessie A. Burton.
