William Bush Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Rutherford-Corbin Funeral Home - Worthington on Dec. 15, 2025.
William "Boomer" Jesse Bush Jr., 100, of Louisville, KY passed away peacefully surrounded by family. Born on March 20, 1925, in Oolitic, Indiana, William lived a full and remarkable century marked by service, commitment, and an unwavering devotion to the people he loved.

A proud veteran, William served in the United States Navy during World War II, answering his country's call with courage and dignity. After returning home, he built a successful 35 year career as an accountant with General Electric, where he was known for his integrity, work ethic, and steady nature.

In his youth, William was an avid athlete who played basketball in high school-a love of sports he carried throughout his life. He was a dedicated fan of the Kentucky Wildcats, the Indiana Hoosiers, and the St. Louis Cardinals, cheering passionately for his teams season after season.

William married the love of his life, Bonnie (Goodman) Bush, with whom he shared 62 wonderful years before her passing. Together, they raised a family anchored in love, laughter, and strong values. William was preceded in death by his parents, his siblings, his beloved wife Bonnie, and his son Steven Bush.

He is survived by his stepsister, Mary Ellen Sowders; his daughters Karen Leet (Donny) and Lisa Barrell (Julian), daughter-in-law Nancy Bush; seven cherished grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren, all of whom brought immense joy and purpose to his life. "Boomer" delighted in watching them grow, celebrate milestones, and discover their passions. His greatest happiness came from simply being present with family-sharing stories, cheering at games, or offering his quiet encouragement.

William will be remembered as a devoted husband, a steadfast father, a proud grandfather and great-grandfather, and a man whose gentle spirit and deep love shaped generations. His legacy of loyalty, kindness, and family devotion will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

A life so well lived, and a man so deeply loved-he will be missed beyond measure.
