William Chan, a full-time pioneer, who loved the preaching work, especially the Special Metropolitan Public Witnessing in Chinatown, fell asleep in death on May 3, 2022. He was 80 years old. He was a ministerial servant in the Philadelphia Chinese Congregation. He will be remembered as a ray of sunshine in any given day.
William was born on 8/9/1941 in Hong Kong to Sai Ying Chan and Kwai FongHo. He left Hong Kong for the United States in 1970. In 1972 William married Rita Yeung. From this union William had 3 children, Tracy, Victor and Vincent. In 2000, William married Cui Juan Chen from Tai Shan, China. From this union William had a stepdaughter, Jian Bing Flores and stepson Hai Shan Lun. In 2006, William and his wife began to study the Bible with Jehovah's Witnesses. He was a diligent student, ready to apply what he was learning in his everyday life. William dedicated his life to Jehovah and got baptized in 2009. In 2010, William became a regular pioneer, devoting at least 70 hours a month helping people learn the truth from the Bible.
William loved Jehovah, the Bible, his wife, his family, his wife's family and all his spiritual brothers and sisters. What endeared many to William was his warm personality and unassuming manner. His friends all describe him as well-mannered, patient, kind, generous, positive and he always had a smile on his face. He truly was a precious man.
William was preceded in death by his parents, Kwai Fong Ho and Sai Ying Chan. He is survived by his two brothers, Chuck Chan and Joe Chan, his daughter Tracy Rios and her husband Celso, his son Victor Chan and his wife Laura and their sons Matthew and Brandon, and his son Vincent Chan and his wife Mo and their son Kyle and daughter Kayla. He is also survived by his loving wife Cui Juan Chen, her daughter Jian Bing Flores and her husband David Flores and their children Christine and Alex, and Cui Juan's son Hai Shan Lun and his wife Bi Ting Chen and their 3 children Yuhua Lun, Enhua Lun and Shenhua Lun, as well as many, many friends, a large spiritual family. Although the loss of William is very painful to his family and friends, he wants all to know that he is safe, resting in Jehovah's memory and that he will be back again, young, vibrant with perfect health in the paradise earth soon to come.
"If a man dies, can he live again?... You will call, and I will answer you. You will long for the work of your hands." Job 14:14,15
