William Chatfield Obituary
Born in Kings Park, NY on November 3, 1943, William was one of four children to the late William Chatfield, Sr. and Mildred (King) Chatfield Hopke. Raised and educated in New Britain, he served his country with honor during the Vietnam War in the United States Marine Corps. Upon being honorably discharged in 1966, he lent his expertise as a master mechanic at Corbin Carburetor in New Britain alongside his brother-in-law Gene Chasser, and later retired from the State of CT Department of Corrections. Known for his unwavering dedication to Alcoholics Anonymous for over 40 years, Bill (Chaty) was a passionate advocate and spokesman for the organization. His commitment to helping others find sobriety and support was a testament to his humble and giving nature.
Bill is survived by his son, Bryant Chatfield and his wife Beth of Avon and their children, Brandon Chatfield and Dr.Sydney Chatfield; who will cherish his memory and carry on his legacy. He also leaves his sisters, Cheryl Chatfield, Janet Chatfield and her husband John Zeaman, and Mary Jones and her husband Morgan Mahon and their families. He is now reunited with daughter Shannon who he missed dearly every day.
