Bill died peacefully at his family home. He graduated in 1966 from Watsonville High School. He fought for the U.S.A. and was a Vietnam veteran and a Purple Heart recipient. He was a charter member of the Vietnam Veterans Motorcycle Club Freedom Chapter for 20 years. He was a veteran's advocate and counselor. He was the owner-operator of SDV Printing, a service-disabled veterans' enterprise in San Jose. He worked on the USS Phelps. He kayaked the Colorado River and loved his Harley and the road.
Bill is survived by his loving family and dear friends. Services will be held at a later date. Mehl's Colonial Chapel has been entrusted with the funeral arrangements.

Billy and I were the best of friends! He met my husband and I way back in 2000 at CSUMB where he was facilitating a veterans rap group! He was always helping people. My son was born on his property in his grandma´s cottage in 2006. My son will always call him uncle Billy! Billy was my brother from another mother! I miss him terribly. I spent the last 10 years trying to make his life better.

Bill and I became friends early on at Watsonville High School due to the fact that our names were so close. Bill Probert and Bill Colbert! People use to get us mixed up constantly. He was good guy who I got to know in High School. We caught up in 2009 when we were setting up for the 2009 Gathering of Cats, a multi year reunion! RIP my dear friend as you deserve it!
