William David Cowart

William David Cowart, 70, of Stuttgart passed away Saturday, Nov. 1, 2025, at his home.

David was born July 28, 1955, in Stuttgart to Edward J. and Claudia Shoemake Cowart. He was a graduate of Stuttgart High School and a veteran of the Army National Guard. David began employment with the City of Stuttgart in 1982 serving in many different stations within the department retiring as Chief of Police 2003.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Ellen Cowart; brothers, Charlie Cowart and Calvin Cowart; and sisters, Ann Dillion and Linda Davis.

Survivors are his wife, Carolyn Cowart; son, Cody Cowart of Stuttgart; daughters, Shawn Noblit (Dave) of Monument, Colo., Dawn Johnson (Justin) of Stuttgart, Ashley Cowart of Hot Springs and Marissa Cowart of Stuttgart; stepson, Shawn Watson of Pine Bluff; brother, Henry Cowart (Myra) of Russellville; grandchildren, Anna Moll (Spencer), Chris Barker, Avery Robnett, Aiden Robnett, Noah Noblit and Nathan Noblit; and step-grandchildren, Phillip, Dale and Sara Watson.

A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 6, at Grand Avenue United Methodist Church.
