William Vance Crummett, 68, passed away on Thursday, March 14, 2024, at the Augusta Health Shenandoah Hospice House in Fishersville.

He was born in Swoope on August 29, 1955, to the late Clayburn and Mary Louise Daughtrey Crummett.

Vance was employed by Fiberspun, the Staunton News Leader, and Ma and Pa's Restaurant in Staunton.

Beyond the workplace, Vance immersed himself in various interests that brought him joy. He was an active member of Greenville Baptist Church. An avid racing enthusiast, Vance's passion for speed fueled his spirit. His involvement with the Elliott's Knob Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 680 further demonstrated his sense of camaraderie and belonging.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Karen Faye Eckard Crummett; his brother, Zane Leroy Crummett; his mother-in-law, Janet H. Eckard; his brother-in-law, Jeff Eckard and his wife, Cheri; as well as his nephews Justin and Jeremiah Eckard. His is also survived by Maggie May, his beloved fur baby who brought him comfort and companionship.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his father-in-law, Howard J. Eckard.

A memorial service will take place at 1:00 PM on Saturday, March 23, 2024, at Greenville Baptist Church with Pastor Dave Ball officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the memorial service, beginning at 12:00 PM. The family encourages casual attire at the service.

The family extends their heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the staff and doctors of Augusta Health Hospice of the Shenandoah and their Hospice House as well as to Robin Hamilton, Chaplain Dennis Taylor, and Pastor Dave Ball.

It is suggested that those desiring may make memorial contributions to Augusta Health Hospice of the Shenandoah (c/o Augusta Health Foundation, P.O. Box 1000, Fishersville, VA 22939) or Greenville Baptist Church (57 Church Street, Greenville, VA 24440).
