William Czajkowski Obituary
Obituary published on Legacy.com by Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Homes & Crematory - New Castle on Nov. 29, 2025.
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of William Thomas "Bill" Czajkowski, a loving and dedicated husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. Bill peacefully went to his eternal home on Saturday, November 22, 2025.
Born in Wilmington, DE, on July 30, 1945, he was the son of the late Francis and Helen (Betley) Czajkowski. Bill cherished his childhood in Browntown, where he helped family with the huckster truck and in the machine shop. He later settled in his family home in Bear, DE. A proud graduate of Wilmington High School, Class of 1963, Bill went on to serve his country in the United States Army. Following his service, he built a long and respected career as a carpenter with the Local Carpenters Union 255, where he formed lifelong friendships, retiring in 2004.
Bill was a beautiful soul, loyal, light-hearted, and full of a steady, easygoing, good-natured joy that everyone around him could feel. He found his greatest peace outdoors in nature, where he loved fresh water fishing with his daughters, grandkids, nephews, and sons-in-law, passing down stories, laughter, and a quiet wisdom that came naturally to him. Hunting on his brother's and nephew's farms wasn't just a pastime; it was a tradition rooted in family and connection.
At home, Bill was happiest when his hands were busy. Whether he was cutting the grass, tending his garden, or tinkering away in his shed, he approached everything with patience, curiosity, and pride. If something needed building or fixing, he was on it.
Bill also had a curious, thoughtful mind, and a love of learning. He was an avid reader, especially drawn to history and could lose himself in a good book. Woven into his thoughtful nature was a playful spirit. He enjoyed a good card game, solving puzzles, scratch-off lottery tickets, football parlay tickets, and settling in to watch old western movies. And on Sundays, win or lose, he could always be found cheering on his beloved Philadelphia Eagles.
But more than anything, Bill's heart belonged to his family. Time spent with them was his greatest treasure, and he showed his love through presence, laughter, and the countless memories he helped create. His legacy lives in the joy he shared, the lessons he taught, and the love he gave so freely.
In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his beloved wife of fifty two years, Gayle Marie (Booth) Czajkowski; brothers, Francis Czajkowski and Joseph Czajkowski (Jean); brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, John "Jackie" Booth, Robert Booth (Viola), Owen Booth (Concetta), Daniel Booth (Carol), Irene Reese (Robert), Patricia Lennon (Matthew), and Willard Weissman.
He is survived by his loving family: children, Amy Rubincam (Mark), Christine Czajkowski, Melissa Fallers (Jim), and Stacy Czajkowski; grandchildren, Brendan (Tara), James (Paige), Adia, Madison, Irene, Aidan, Reid, and Amari; great-grandchildren, Vana and Millie; brother, Ronald Czajkowski (Marcia); sisters-in-law, Elaine Czajkowski and Leona Weissman; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Bill touched the lives of everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. Over his eighty years, he shared wisdom, humor, kindness, and a generous, selfless spirit. His unwavering dedication to those he loved leaves a lasting legacy of strength, compassion, and love.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to Esther Howell and the exceptional team at ChristianaCare for their compassion, support, and devoted care during Bill's final weeks.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10:00 am until 11:00 am on Thursday, December 4, 2025, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton R.C. Church, 345 Bear Christiana Road, Bear, DE, where a Funeral Mass will begin at 11:00 am. Inurnment will be held privately.
