William "Bill" Lawrence Davis Jr., of Baldwin City, KS, passed away on August 9, 2025, surrounded by his loved ones.

Born on February 23, 1945, in Fergus Falls, MN, to William Lawrence Davis Sr. and Marcella Marie (Hilton) Davis, Bill grew up in Evansville, IN, Albuquerque, NM, and Denver, CO, where he developed a lifelong fascination with the majestic beauty and exhilarating adventure of the mountains. He graduated from Denver South High School in 1964 and subsequently served his country in the United States Navy as a Quartermaster aboard the USS Kitty Hawk. During his tenure, he was awarded the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and Navy Unit Commendation Ribbon.

On February 10, 1968, Bill was married to Kathleen Kay Corr at the United Methodist Church in Melbeta, NE. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary shortly before Kathy's passing in 2018.

Following their marriage, Bill and Kathy embarked on their lifelong journey together, residing in Denver, CO, and later in Gering, NE, Oshkosh, NE, and Melbeta, NE. In 1988, they relocated to Baldwin City, KS, due to Bill's employment with Sprint. He served as a telephone technician and network analyst for over 35 years, retiring in 2007. During his tenure, Bill was responsible for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting telephone systems throughout the Midwest region.

Bill was an active member of the National Rifle Association, Douglas County Republican Committee, and the New Life Assembly of God Church in Baldwin City. He was the most ardent supporter and contributor to his wife's numerous community endeavors, including overseeing the technical production team at the Baldwin City Theatre from 1991 to 2001. Bill was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hiking, climbing, skiing, and fly fishing.

As a skilled draftsman and carpenter, he designed and constructed their home in Oshkosh, NE, a coal-burning stove, and his own ocean-worthy sailboat. Bill also had a passion for model trains.

Bill and Kathy shared the responsibility of spiritual guidance and the upbringing of their children. His most profound aspiration was for everyone to discover and experience the divine love of Jesus.

Bill is survived by two daughters, Heather (Justin) of Ottawa, KS, and Melissa of Redding, CA; three sons, Will (Jessica) of Baldwin City, KS, Clinton (Jamie) of Baldwin City, KS, and Luke (Cara) of Lee's Summit, MO; a sister, Marsha of Santa Rosa, CA; 14 grandchildren, Brett D., Chelsy (Landon), Austin, Zach, Brett C., Ace, Jack, Margreta, Maygan, Mallory, Ansley, Finnley, Hollis, and Haley; and seven great-grandchildren, Waylen, Chloe, Cierra, Wyatt, Evelyn, Caleb, and Addison.

Bill is preceded in death by his wife, Kathy; his parents, William and Marcella; a brother, Lowell; and a great-granddaughter, Catie Kay.

Funeral memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 6, 2025, at Lamb-Roberts-Price Funeral Home, located at 712 Ninth St., Baldwin City, Kansas 66006.
