William Dickson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Watkins Brothers Funeral Homes - Perry Chapel on May 2, 2025.
William Brian Dickson, affectionately known throughout his life as "Wild Bill," brought an irrepressible spirit to all who knew him. His journey on this earth came unexpectedly on Monday, April 28, 2025 leaving behind memories of a life well-lived.
A funeral service to honor and celebrate his life will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, May 5, 2025 at Watkins Brothers Funeral Homes, 214 S. Main St., Perry, MI 48872. The family will receive friends beginning at 10:00 AM until the time of service. Pastor Tim Harmon will officiate. A private graveside will be held at Surrey Township Cemetery in Farwell, Michigan.
Born on October 21, 1965, in Lansing, Michigan, to loving parents Ellis and Donna (Seigle) Dickson, Bill's zest for life was evident from the start. Bill was a proud graduate of East Lansing High School, class of 1983, where he was known for his quick wit and ability to make anyone smile. Following his graduation, he dedicated 30 years of service to General Motors, where his colleagues respected him for his hard work and dedication. His work ethic was only matched by his ability to bring laughter and lightness to the workplace.
Bill's passions were as large as his personality. An avid outdoorsman, he cherished the time spent in nature, whether it was hunting and fishing during the warmer months or embracing the chill of ice fishing when winter rolled around. He was also a master of "dad jokes" and never passed up a chance to make his family and friends groan and laugh with his "unique" sense of humor.
In his downtime, Bill could be found tinkering with anything that had a motor-his love for mechanics was a testament to his handy nature. However, it was a well-known fact that his interest in machinery did not extend to lawnmowers, much to the amusement of those who knew him and when it came to landscaping? Let's say, he enjoyed the wild state of his yard.
Bill's love extended to his canine companions, Max and Elvis, who were a constant source of joy and companionship.
He is lovingly remembered by his parents, Ellis and Donna; his children, Brian Dickson, Erika (Jerry) Hackworth, and Will (Paige) Dickson II; his best friend, Barb Lloyd of 20 years; his dear grandchildren, Isabella Gaudard, Luna Hackworth, Ronin Hackworth, Aurora Hackworth, Lerin Dickson, and Riley Dickson; his siblings, Paul Dickson and Jim (Sharon) Seigle; and a host of friends whose lives he touched.
Memorials are suggested to the Shiawassee County Humane Society and shspet.org.

I remember meeting Bill and Barb about 11 years ago at my property up North when my husband had invited them both up. I was a bit upset because I didn't think that was the greatest place to meet new friends since the place is and was so old and run down.... But it all worked out just fine. We continued to stay in close contact for a while until once again life just takes over and time slips away. Bill was always ready to lend a helping hand when needed and not ask for anything in return. He also always had some of the best jokes ever. Everyone has their own story to tell.. I'm sorry for everyone's loss here. Bill you will be missed.
