William Dodd Obituary
Funeral service for William Dodd, age 79, of Sulphur Springs, Texas will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, November 4, 2024 at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home with C.J. Duffey officiating. Interment will follow at Tira Cemetery with Trenton Dodd, Matthew Dodd, Tommy Sanderson, Jimmy Smith, Brian Lewis, Robert Dodd, and Dustin Weir serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Jerry Lucas and Gavin Shelton. Visitation will be held one hour prior from 1:00-2:00 p.m. at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home. Mr. Dodd passed away at his home on Thursday, October 31, 2014.
William Paul Dodd, Jr. was born on December 16, 1944 to William Paul Dodd, Sr. and Dorothy Nell Rhodes. He married Joyce Nell Weir in Sulphur Springs, Texas on August 13, 1966. William was retired from County Precinct 4 where he was a Foreman. He enjoyed tractor restoration, working on the farm, his cattle, bailing hay, and driving a bulldozer. William served for 6 years in the National Guard.
William is survived by his wife, Joyce Dodd; son, Michael McNiel of Richardson, Texas; daughter, Tonya Lucus (Jerry) of Sulphur Springs; son, Robert Wayne Dodd of Sulphur Springs; son, Brad Dodd of Sulphur Springs; grandchildren, Maegan, Mandi Owens, Trenton Dodd, and Matthew Dodd; great-grandchildren, Alyssa Shelton, Gavin Shelton, Ethan Shelton, Kanyen Dodd, and Addison Dodd; great-great-grandchildren, Brookelynn Foster and Cleo Shelton; sisters, June Dickey of Sulphur Springs and Paula Dodd of Fresno, California.
He was preceded in death by his father, William Dodd, Sr.; mother and stepfather, Dorothy and Wayne Hurley.
