William “Don” Sheets, 71, of Carmel, Indiana passed away on May 20, 2024, after a battle with colon cancer. Don, as he was known to all his family and friends, was born to his parents Rose Lee (Robinson) and William Courtney Sheets on July 25, 1952, in Covington, Kentucky.
Don was lauded as a “champion for the children,” taking pride in his work as a teacher at the McKenzie Career Center in Lawrence Township Schools. He would always lend a hand to help underprivileged children in the community. Don was a member of the Board of Directors of the Indianapolis Soap Box Derby. He was an active member of Faith Church in Indianapolis.
Don is survived by his daughter Decina Lyn Paul (Brian), sons Jason Edward Sheets (Amy) and Timothy William Sheets, daughter-in-law Betty Sheets, sister Mary Sheets, and grandchildren Abigail Worster (Christopher), Henry Paul, Bridget Paul, Natalie Sheets, Devin Sheets, Tyler Sheets, and Carter Sheets (Lilly).
He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years Patricia Ann (Brogan) Sheets, parents Rose and William Sheets, brother Ulous Airrasmith, and sister Diane Bovard.
A visitation will be held at Flanner Buchanan – Zionsville, 105 W Pine St, Zionsville, IN 46077 on Monday, June 3, 2024, at 1:00pm to 3:00pm with a memorial service to immediately follow at 3:00pm.
