God has taken our angel home to be with him.
William Edward (Ed) Wood, 81, of Burlington, passed away peacefully Tuesday morning at AuthoraCare Collective in Burlington. He was born in Surry County on March 6, 1944 to the late William Alex and Eula Johnson Wood. Ed graduated from Surry Central High School and Technical Institute of Alamance County. He was a retired electrician from Hugh G. Strickland Company. He was also an avid hunter, fisherman, and was NC BASS Masters Champion in 1983. Ed had a big heart and loved his family dearly.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of almost 59 years, Caroll Kincaid Wood; three daughters, Teresa Class of Greensboro, Deanna (Jonathan) Gajdik of Cumming, GA, and Kathie (Buddy) Sell of Wichita, KS.; six grandchildren, Brett Sell MD, Samantha Lunsford (Craig), Bryce Sell (Kennedy), Brock Sell, Taylor Gajdik, and Brady Sell; two great-grandchildren, Hazel Sell, and Luca Sell. Ed is also survived by one sister Janet (Steve) Johnson.
Ed was preceded in death by a great-grandson, Everett William Dean Sell, a sister Frances Eubanks, and a brother Donald Wood.
The family wants to thank the medical team and employees of Cone Health Alamance Hospital and AuthoraCare Collective for the wonderful care Ed received.
There will be a visitation at Riverside Baptist Church, 1568 East Harden Street, Graham, NC 27253 on Sunday, September 21st from 2-4pm.
There will be a visitation at Salem Baptist Church, 430 Rockford Road, Dobson, NC 27017 on Monday, September 22nd at 4pm. The funeral will be at 5pm with Rev. Bob Stephenson and Rev. Ken Barker officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will be wearing blue jeans and T-shirts in Ed’s memory. Everyone who wants is welcome to dress in jeans and T-shirts as well.
