William Edward “Bill” Tomberlin, age 97, of Surrency passed away Tuesday, October 7, 2025 at his residence under the care of Comfort Care Hospice.
Mr. Tomberlin was born December 1, 1927 in Appling County to the late Charlie Tomberlin and the late Mary Morgan Tomberlin. He was a member of the Baxley Church of God but attended Celebration Family Church. Mr. Tomberlin was a veteran of the United States Army and was a retired engineer with the Georgia State Highway Department. He was a member of the Georgia DOT Engineer Association and was preceded in death by his sisters, Addie Mae Moody, Bernice Turner, and a brother, Jack Tomberlin.
Survivors include his wife of 73 years, Joyce Tomberlin of Surrency; sons, Mickey (Debbie) Tomberlin of Surrency, Garry (Jean) Tomberlin of Apison, TN, Robbie (Paige) Tomberlin of Bristol, and Eddie (LaDonna)Tomberlin of Surrency. Nine grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 11, 2025 at 3:00 p.m. from the Chapel of Swain Funeral Home with Dr. Danny Tomberlin officiating. Interment will follow in the Tomberlin-Paulk Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be grandsons.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Swain Funeral Home.
