Augusta, GA – Entered into rest on Monday, May 19, 2025, William Eychaner, 87, husband of Carolyn Eychaner.

Anyone who knew Bill knew the deep love and devotion he had for his wife of 67 years, Carolyn. He adored her. They were high school sweethearts, meeting at Hillsborough High School, in Tampa, Florida in 1956 and married in 1958.

Bill and Carolyn had 3 daughters, and he became the consummate “Girl Dad.” He rarely missed a recital, athletic event, choral program or theater production to support one of his girls. His grandchildren received the benefit of the same commitment to support their activities. As long as he was physically able, worshiping and serving at Trinity on the Hill were a priority.

Bill and Carolyn love the members of the Adult Couples Sunday School Class and their small Tribe Group, who have been a wonderful source of friendship and support. He also loved and served his community through Family Promise and MCG Children’s Miracle Network.

Bill was a hard worker, whether he was volunteering for one of these organizations or in his career in financial services. He and Carolyn will be remembered as great friends in various places he worked throughout the country.

Bill enjoyed sports of all kinds as both a participant and as a spectator. Living in Augusta afforded him the opportunity to be a gallery guard at the Masters Golf Tournament, which he considered quite a treat.

He was a lifelong Florida Gator fan and never said no to an invitation to a game in “The Swamp”. (Go Gators! Chomp, Chomp)

As a couple, Bill and Carolyn greatly enjoyed traveling together. Often times they sacrificed their “couple time” to include children and grandchildren on their adventures. Bill was recently asked during a family game night what places he would like to visit next. Without hesitation his response was “Heaven”.

“He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain for the old order of things has passed.” Revelation 21:4

In addition to his wife, Carolyn, family members include his 3 daughters: Andria Duff (David), Alisa Van Dorn (Tom), and Allison Johnson (Casey); 5 grandchildren: Dallas Duff, Brooks Duff (Kirsten), Chase Duff, Kelsie Johnson and Forrest Johnson; 1 great-grandchild: Logan Duff; sisters: Sandra Funkhouser (Ronnie), Shirley Sapp, Joan Walton (Mike), Judy Fiedler (John) and Susie Koehler (John). He was preceded in death by his birth parents: Leonard E. and Florence Louise Sapp; his adoptive parents: Karl K. and Gertrude Eychaner and his brother: Lenny Sapp.

A Celebration of Life service will be held Thursday, June 12, 2025, at 3:00 PM at Trinity on the Hill Methodist Church, 1330 Monte Sano Avenue with Rev. Roy McVeigh officiating. Visitation will be at 2:00 PM in the Gathering Area.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff of The Claiborne and SouthEast Hospice for the compassionate and quality care they gave Bill. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the following: Family Promise of Augusta (familypromiseaugusta.com) or The Children’s Hospital of Georgia (augustahealth.childrensmiraclenetworkhospitals.org)
