Mae "Kathy" Eychaner, age 83, of Ellsworth, IA, passed away on Wednesday, April 17, 2024 at her home.
Kathy was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She left this world peacefully at home in Ellsworth, IA on April 17, 2024, at the age of 83.
Kathy was born to Avis Thomas and Fred Keigley in Iowa City, IA. She was raised in Highland Kansas and graduated from Highland High School. Kathy married her first husband Lyle Clark in 1959 and together they had six children. After Lyle's passing Kathy married Orvin Eychaner and settled in Effie, MN where they spent many years surrounded by their children and grandchildren.
Kathy had a true talent for making Afghans and loved to give these out to her grandchildren. More recently she enjoyed making things with plastic canvas and loved to receive and complete custom orders for people who requested them. Kathy loved all birds but especially roosters, she loved old country music, gospel music and Elvis Presley (her one true love). Kathy loved to tell jokes and anxiously waited for the joke of the day each day. She couldn't wait to tell anyone who would listen, a silly, or sometimes, just a little naughty joke or two. Kathy loved football and kept track of the scores in her little notebook (Go Chiefs). Kathy loved chocolate and always had a treat ready for any visitor that came to see her. Kathy loved her family and friends more than anything and was so proud of all her kids and grandkids. Kathy will always be remembered for her kindness and her love for her family.
Kathy is survived by her six children: Renee Willett of Grand Rapids, MN; Teri Jones (Gary Jones) of Ellsworth, IA; Tammy Metke of Deer River, MN; Scott Clark (Laura Clark) of Effie, MN; Randy Clark of Grand Rapids, MN; Stacy Fideldy (David Fideldy), of Warba, MN; 2 sisters, Lucille Mathews (Lyle Mathews), Lois Waters and four brothers, Richard Thomas (Theresa Thomas), Ed Thomas (Jeanette Thomas), Robert "Nelson" Thomas (Kris Thomas), Raymond Thomas (Jodi Thomas).
Also left to cherish her memory are her 31 grandchildren, 60 great grandchildren, and 7 great-great grandchildren along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Kathy is preceded in death by her mom Avis Thomas, Stepfather Lynn Thomas, Father Fred Keigley, first husband Lyle Clark, second husband Orvin Eychaner, three Grandsons, one granddaughter, sister Lila Thomas, and many aunts and uncles.
