Mt. Croghan, SC - Mr. William F. “Billy” Adams, age 85, peacefully entered into rest at his home on Tuesday, July 29, 2025.
Funeral services will be 3:00 PM Friday, August 1, 2025 from the Chapel of Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home by Pastor Rodney Nicholson with burial to follow in the Mount Croghan Memorial Park. The family will greet friends from 2:00 – 3:00 PM Friday, prior to the service at the funeral home.
Born on March 14, 1940, in Mt. Croghan, SC, Billy was the son of the late Joseph Jerome and Mildred Tucker Adams. He graduated from Pageland High School and began his professional career at Barrier – Beck Porsche, Volkswagen & Audi Automotive in Charlotte. In 1973, he transitioned to education as an automotive technology instructor at Chesterfield – Marlboro Technical College, furthering his education through a bachelor's degree in education at Clemson University. Following his time at Chesterfield - Marlboro TEC, he retired from Cheraw High School, where he continued to impart knowledge in automotive technology.
Billy was a faithful member of Mt. Croghan Baptist Church, where he served as a former deacon, taught Sunday school, and led music for over 50 years. He was also involved in the Mt. Croghan Memorial Park Committee and exhibited considerable talents as an accomplished brick mason and skilled artist. Known for his musical abilities, Billy enjoyed singing and playing the guitar. His hobbies included deer hunting, arrowhead hunting, and caring for his pets. An enthusiastic historian, he cherished the time spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, proudly embracing the role of "Pa-Pa."
In addition to his parents, Mr. Adams was preceded in death by his son, William Jeffrey “Jeff” Adams, and his sister, Gloria Adams White.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 65 years, Mazie Adams; children, Cindy (Ricky) Campbell of Patrick, SC, Joey Adams of Mt. Croghan, SC, and Jamie (April) Adams of Chesterfield, SC; grandchildren, Brooke (Jeremy) Mills, Leanna Campbell (Addison Davis), Will Adams, Reagan (Garrett) Gulledge, and Grey Adams; great-grandchildren, Hayes Mills and Carson Gulledge; brother-in-law, Jimmy White of Montross, VA; and his beloved pet, “Lu-Lu.”
The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to nurse Ruth Smolos and the entire Agape Hospice staff for the extraordinary care and support they provided.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Mount Croghan Baptist Church, 14 Church Street, Mt. Croghan, SC 29727.
